The photographs from the Birthday Party had just arrived and I'm both excited and disappointed.
Excited because I get to post them here and slightly disappointed because the pictures aren't great really. Anyone could have clicked those pictures. No creative input from the photographer whatsoever and there was so much scope I tell you.
Anyways here they are finally. A full month's brainstorming, shopping and planning that culminated in a decent Little Krishna Birthday Party.

The Invitation |
I clicked the picture and designed the card.
I dressed my son in a traditional Dhoti Kurta for the party!
The entrance and the sweet table were decorated with tiny colorful butter pots. These butter pots were the highlight of the whole event.

Dahi handi as decoration |

The Cake and Sweet Stand |
From the tissue pompoms to the banners- All of it were made at home with a lot of help from family.
|
Feather bands and crowns for every Guest! |
We made these peacock feather bands at home! They look lovely in the pictures! Don't They?
|
Photo Booth! |
Me and my husband went way early to the venue to set of all this up!
|
Fun time playing Radha and Krishna |
The guests thoroughly enjoyed the photo booth playing radha krishna and stealing butterpots!
The games were theme centric too. Crowning the krishna & Butterpot Pinata.

We used our baby's photographs from his cake-smash photo shoot at the food serving area and custom made the food labels too.
Below are two pics from the shoot.!

And this was my personal favourite part of the event. The Party Favours! We filled hershey's kisses in tiny butterpots and every family got to take one home. Notice the peacock eye on each kisses? I liked that little detail. I personally made those feather pens out of shiny ribbons . They really fit the theme and looked gorgeous.

Guests pen down their wishes for the baby |
I hope my li'l one grows to appreciate all of this when he finally gets to see all of it. This was a very special rewarding feeling. Even if nobody else did, I really did enjoy putting all of this together!
Hi there.. I came across this webpage while searching for Krishna theme party ideas. And I must say you have done a wonderful job right from the party decor to the games. Loved all the detailing. Really fantastic!! I would like to know where you got the matkis from? If you got them from India, please let me know where from. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteShreya.
Hi Shreya!!
DeleteThank you ever so much for leaving a comment! Never did I think that anyone would even come across my tiny blog! Hence the late reply!
The Matkis.... I got them from India... to be specific.. Wholesale retail shops at High road , Thrissur, Kerala! ... You may find these matkis all over near Guruvayur temple, but they are slightly more expensive than the shops I bought from ( but ofcourse, Guruvayur is such a tourist-swarming place).
I am afraid, I have so far never come across any online shop that sells them in my research.
Thank you for your reply. :)
DeleteShreya.
Nice decor....where did u get those matkis...it's from India or online? Pls share the info
ReplyDeleteHi There.... Kindly refer to the reply on the comment above!

ReplyDeleteHello Fuzion Chef!
DeleteThe bands were bought from a shop in Kerala ( These bands were originally for kids to use on their arms and waist ). We sewed the peacock feathers on to the bands and used it as crowns and bracelets

ReplyDeletethis is sai..can you share me the crowning krishna background i mean flower garland. so that i will use it to my sons 1st birthday.. unable to find matkis.. is their any chance can i get the matkis to usa. how much each matkis? please help me ASAP .. and also how you arranged/made the crowning krishna frame.. so that each guest crown the pic
ReplyDeleteDear Sai,
DeleteI don't know if I've understood you entirely
Let me instead breakdown the process of how I went about it.
1) Butterpots - I bought them from Kerala... I don't think you get it anywhere else.
2) The flower garland background - The garland you see in the background was handmade by me for the cakesmash photoshoot . Unfortunately I do not have a picture of the garland alone. You can always go back to my pinterest board here https://www.pinterest.com/meditatinglion/krishna-birthday-theme/
and download any of the cakesmash pictures and get someone who knows photoshop to remove my son , so that you get the background ( does that answer your question?)
3) The frame - There was no frame, I got the picture from the photoshoot printed out in A3 size and used cello tape to stick it on the wall
P.S : you can always get creative and think of some other party favour if you can't source the matkis. If its a kid's party, how about bamboo toy flutes as a gift and at one end you tie up some sweets in a shiny wrapper? You will the flutes on amazon.com

Thank you
